High School Roundup: Sage Hill 8-man football beats Faith Baptist to reach CIF Division 1 semifinal

Alvaro Corona had a game-winning field goal for the Sage Hill School 8-man football team, which beat visiting Canoga Park Faith Baptist 45-42 on Friday night in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs at Ramer Field.

The Lightning (10-1) recovered a fumble on defense to set up the decisive field goal. Sage Hill, which trailed 34-13 at halftime, got a rushing touchdown from Christo Karahalios to tie the score late.

Karahalios scored twice on the ground. Finn McClintock also had a rushing touchdown. Jake Nadelman had a kickoff return for a touchdown, and Corona added a receiving touchdown.

Sage Hill will travel in the semifinals next week to take on the winner of Ojai Thacher versus Palos Verdes Peninsula Chadwick. The teams play their quarterfinal game on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
