High School Roundup: Huntington Beach girls’ soccer blanks Marina

Emma Radzai scored twice as the Huntington Beach High girls’ soccer team beat Marina 3-0 on Thursday in a Sunset Conference crossover match at home.

Summer Stewart had a goal and an assist for the Oilers (6-5-6). Hanna Armendariz and Gabby Rizzo added assists for Huntington Beach, which hosts Laguna Beach on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Marina (3-7-2) hosts Edison on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Edison 4, Laguna Beach 0: Jackie Peterson, Nikki Marino, Lucy Granger and Ella Marcus all scored for the host Chargers in Thursday’s Sunset Conference crossover match.

Morgan Roberts had two assists for the Chargers (6-3-2), while goalkeepers Ava Norquist and Alyssa Plotkin combined on the shutout.

Laguna Beach is now 4-3-3.

Estancia 4, Saddleback 0: Desiree Mendoza had two goals and an assist for the Eagles in Thursday’s Orange Coast League match on the road.

Ally Fitzgerald and Wendy Millan also scored for Estancia (4-5-1, 2-0 in league).

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Laguna Beach 16, Long Beach Wilson 2: Emma Lineback had five goals for the Breakers in the first round of the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions on Thursday at Goleta Dos Pueblos High.

Morgan Van Alphen had two goals and two assists for Laguna Beach, while goalkeeper Lauren Schneider made five saves.

Top-seeded Laguna Beach (13-1) plays Carlsbad in a tournament quarterfinal match Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Dos Pueblos.

Newport Harbor 12, Santa Barbara 1: The Sailors eased to a first-round win in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions on Thursday at Goleta Dos Pueblos High.

Third-seeded Newport Harbor (10-3) plays Orange Lutheran in a tournament quarterfinal match Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Dos Pueblos.

Costa Mesa 21, Santa Ana 0: The Mustangs improved to 9-3 after routing the Saints in their Orange Coast League opener Thursday on the road.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Fountain Valley 57, Los Alamitos 40: Kat Luu had a team-high 20 points for the visiting Barons in Thursday’s Sunset Conference crossover game.

Caitlin Okawa scored 11 points. Sisters Margaret Tengan and Audrey Tengan each scored seven points.

Fountain Valley (11-10) has won four of its past five games.

Edison 51, Laguna Beach 20: Gwen Ontiveros led the host Chargers with 13 points, including a trio of three-pointers, in Thursday’s Sunset Conference crossover game.

Sarah Gray and Adelina Fredrick each contributed eight points and 10 rebounds for Edison (10-9).

Laguna Beach fell to 9-11.

Saddleback 53, Estancia 13: Adriela Sandoval and Samantha Villalpando each pulled down seven rebounds for the visiting Eagles in Thursday’s Orange Coast League game.

Estancia fell to 3-17 overall and 1-1 in league play.
