High School Roundup: Edison girls’ lacrosse tops University

Blakely Malpass scored five goals to lead the Edison High girls’ lacrosse team to a 16-5 win at home over University on Thursday in a nonleague match.

Melanie Weiland scored four goals, and Ali Bryant had three goals and two assists for the Chargers (4-2).

Edison plays a nonleague match at Esperanza on Tuesday.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Ocean View 11, Estancia 7: The visiting Seahawks (1-4) picked up their first win of the season in Thursday’s nonleague match.

Jamieson McLellan swept 6-1, 6-1, 6-0 in singles for the Eagles (0-1).

Fountain Valley 14, Irvine 4: The Barons improved to 6-0 after winning Thursday’s nonleague home match.

SOFTBALL

Los Amigos 16, Saddleback 11: Lauren Duran went five for six with a home run, three doubles and four runs batted in to lead the visiting Lobos in Thursday’s nonleague game.

Carolina Alcozar went four for five with a home run and two doubles for Los Amigos (3-3). Ashley Islas also had a home run and a double, and Ashley Rogel had a pair of doubles.

Marina 5, Downey 1: The Vikings improved to 5-2 following Thursday’s win in the Mohave Tournament of Champions in Bullhead City, Ariz.

Phoenix (Ariz.) O’Connor 6, Fountain Valley 3: The Barons fell to 2-4 after losing their game in the Mohave Tournament of Champions on Thursday in Bullhead City, Ariz.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Edison 10, Sandy (Utah) Alta 6: The host Chargers improved to 4-2 overall following Thursday’s nonleague match.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Katella 3, Ocean View 0: The host Sea Kings dropped to 0-3 after the Knights earned a 25-17, 25-19, 25-11 win in Thursday’s nonleague match.
