High School Roundup: Corona del Mar boys’ tennis gets past Fountain Valley

Niels Hoffmann, Max Krykunenko and Logan Friedman each swept in singles as the Corona del Mar High School boys’ tennis team beat Fountain Valley 11-7 in a Surf League match Monday at CdM.

League champion CdM improved to 18-2 overall and 5-0 in league.

Fountain Valley is now 8-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.

Laguna Beach 13, Newport Harbor 5: Brad Aryeh swept at No. 1 singles for the Breakers in Monday’s Wave League match at Newport Harbor High.

Ian MacLaughlin and Peter Durand swept at No. 1 doubles for Laguna Beach (7-7, 2-2).

Newport Harbor fell to 0-4 in league.

BOYS’ GOLF

Troy Tarvin entered the clubhouse with a one-under 72, leading the Edison boys’ golf team to the title in the Villa Park Tournament at Yorba Linda Country Club on Monday.

Tarvin finished tied for third among all competitors. Timothy Jung (76), Connor Krueger (76), Jake Rothman (77) and Dawson Kollar (78) also contributed to Edison’s team score.

Corona del Mar 179, Newport Harbor 195: Calder Overfelt was the medalist for the Sea Kings, carding a three-under-par 32 on his round on Monday in the Battle of the Bay match at Newport Beach Country Club.

James Leehealey (34), John Tipton (37), Keenan Boyle (38) and Giovanni Fontana (38) joined Overfelt in forming the team total for CdM (6-2, 4-0 in the Surf League).

Newport Harbor dropped to 5-4-1 overall and 0-4 in league.

Estancia 217, Costa Mesa 243: Hayden Jones shot a two-over-par 37 to lead the Eagles on Monday in the Battle for the Bell rivalry match at Costa Mesa Country Club.

Estancia improved to 12-4 overall and 9-0 in the Orange Coast League, while Costa Mesa is now 6-4 overall and in league.
