High School Roundup: Vidalia Abarca’s hat trick lifts Los Amigos girls’ soccer in CIF opener

Vidalia Abarca scored three goals as the Los Amigos High girls’ soccer team outlasted Segerstrom 3-2 in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs on Wednesday at home.

Mya Rodriguez and Jennifer Rincon had assists for No. 3-seeded Los Amigos (15-3-1), which will host Grand Terrace in the second round Friday.

Costa Mesa 0, Studio City Campbell Hall 0 (Costa Mesa wins 5-3 on PKs): The top-seeded Mustangs survived the CIF Southern Section Division 5 first-round playoff match Wednesday at home.

Costa Mesa (17-2-4) plays at Temple City in the second round on Friday.

Troy 3, Corona del Mar 2: Megan Chelf and Avery Doherty scored for the Sea Kings on Wednesday in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

Giovanna Broderick made six saves for CdM, which finishes the season 13-4-4.

Upland 2, Edison 0: The Chargers finished the season 12-8-4 after dropping the CIF Southern Section Division 1 first-round playoff match Wednesday on the road.

Aliso Niguel 2, Huntington Beach 1: Freshman Liz Johnson scored in the second half of the visiting Oilers’ CIF Southern Section Division 1 first-round playoff match Wednesday.

Huntington Beach finishes the season 11-8-8.

Brea Olinda 1, Laguna Beach 0: The host Breakers (4-11-5) were blanked in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3 playoffs Wednesday.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Katella 13, Estancia 4: The top-seeded Knights ended the visiting Eagles’ season in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 7 playoffs Wednesday.

Estancia finished 14-15.
