5 locals earn All-CIF girls’ volleyball honors

Corona del Mar High junior opposite Kendall Kipp, Sage Hill senior setter Jade Blevins and junior outside hitter Sydnee Francis, Laguna Beach senior outside hitter Lexi McKeown and Ocean View junior outside hitter Jillian Pratt earned All-CIF Southern Section honors in their respective girls’ volleyball divisions.

Kipp made it in Division 1. She was the primary weapon for a Sea Kings team that reached the semifinals for the first time since 2014.

She blasted her way to a team-high 429 kills, adding 120 digs, 70 blocks and 48 service aces.

CdM went 23-8 overall, claiming the Pacific Coast League title and a spot in the CIF State Open Division bracket.

Blevins and Francis were named to the list for Division 3.

Blevins, the Academy League MVP, produced 645 assists, 77 kills, 63 total blocks and 52 aces. She will continue her volleyball career in college at the University of Portland.

Francis hammered out a team-high 277 kills, adding 206 digs and 62 aces.

The Lightning posted a record of 26-10, bowing out in the semifinals against Pasadena La Salle. In the CIF State Division II tournament, Sage Hill, the Academy League champion, fell in the regional semifinal to Chatsworth Sierra Canyon.

McKeown also made it for Division 3. She led the Breakers (20-8), a quarterfinalist, with 290 kills on .295 hitting. She also led the team in digs with 273, adding 31 total blocks and 14 aces.

McKeown was named the Orange Coast League MVP after the Breakers extended their league winning streak to 120 matches this season.

Pratt was named to the Division 8 team. She led her team in kills (140) and aces (68).

The Seahawks (21-5) were the co-Golden West League champions, advancing to the section quarterfinals before being eliminated by Malibu.
