Weaver becomes a local

Scott Boras is Jered Weaver’s sports agent. Boras is now the Angel pitcher’s neighbor in Newport Coast.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram reported that the All-Star bought a home in the upscale area after a bid on a house in the Long Beach neighborhood of Naples fell through in the final stages of escrow. Matt Paz, a friend of Weaver and a former teammate of Weaver at Long Beach State, told the paper that Weaver’s first choice was not Newport Coast.

“Oh, there’s no doubt Jered will return to Long Beach,” Paz told the Long Beach Press-Telegram. “He’s just not a Newport Beach type of guy. He belongs in Long Beach, and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t eventually come back.”
