COSTA MESA – Junior Austin McCardle went one for three with a double and a run batted in for the Mustangs in the Orange Coast League game Tuesday.

Godinez scored four runs in the fourth inning to break away from a 1-1 tie.

Costa Mesa (7-9, 2-4 in league) play at Godinez Wednesday at 3:15 p.m.

Laguna Beach 5, Estancia 1

COSTA MESA – Maliah Murtha hit a home run in the fifth inning for the Eagles in their Orange Coast League opener Tuesday.

Rachelle Reynolds went two for three with a double for Estancia (3-13, 0-1 in league). Laguna Beach scored five unearned runs in the first inning, as two errors, three walks and four wild pitches helped the Breakers.

Estancia pitcher Claire Woodside allowed one hit and struck out four in 6 2/3 innings. The Eagles out-hit Laguna Beach, 6-2.

Estancia plays at Godinez Thursday.
