Sage Hill 17, Brethren Christian 1

NEWPORT BEACH — The Lightning clinched the Academy League title with their victory Tuesday at The Tennis Club Newport Beach.

Robbe Simon and Denis Cirit swept in singles for Sage Hill (14-5, 8-0 in league). The doubles teams of Andrew Kurzweil and Alex Manolakas, Sean Batten and Eric Magliarditi, as well as Kevin Marshack and Nasier Emtaiz, all swept for the Lightning.

Sage Hill, ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division III coaches’ poll, plays rival St. Margaret’s today to close out its regular season. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Rancho San Clemente Tennis & Fitness Club.

University 16, Corona del Mar 2

IRVINE — Shane Korber won one singles set for the Sea Kings as the host Trojans clinched the outright league championship Tuesday at University.

Ismaen Aboubakare and Alec Adamson also won a doubles set for CdM (14-4, 7-2 in league), ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division I. University is the top-ranked team in Division I and defending champion.

BOYS’ GOLF

Estancia 200, Ocean View 224

COSTA MESA — Junior Jake Knapp shot five-under-par 32 on Tuesday at Costa Mesa Golf and Country Club’s Los Lagos Course, helping the Eagles clinch the Orange Coast League title outright.

Knap, who recorded an eagle and three birdies, lifted Estancia to 16-0, 13-0 in league. Estancia on Thursday will try to close out the regular season undefeated, something the program has never done.

The Eagles play Laguna Beach in a league finale at Mesa Verde Country Club at 2:30 p.m. Estancia has won eight league titles in the last nine years.

Courtland Lee finished with a 39 for the Eagles, followed Aaron Wood (41), Ryan Quinlan (44) and Bill Crosson (44).

Sage Hill 202, St. Margaret’s 206

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Ahmed Eltamami earned a share of medalist honors at Marbella Country Club Tuesday after shooting an even-par 35 in a crucial Academy League match that helped the Lightning move into a first place tie with the Tartans in the Academy League.

Sage Hill and St. Margaret’s head into their league finale on Thursday with identical 8-1 records in league.

Darren Chen finished with a 38 for the Lightning, followed by Kam Fujii (40), Jared Hoffman (44), and Tanner Tremaine (45).

Eltamami shared medalist honors with Anthony Cecere of St. Margaret’s.

Newport Harbor 199, Edison 201

COSTA MESA — The Sailors’ Zach Eddy was co-medalist with a two-under-par 35 in the Sunset League match Tuesday at Costa Mesa Golf and Country Club’s Los Lagos Course.

Marcus Kiel (39), Carter Norris (40), Brad Tapfer (41) and Mason Moody (44) also scored for Newport Harbor (11-9, 5-3 in league).

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Estancia 88, Savanna 60

ANAHEIM — Senior Asher Twardowski won the 200-yard individual medley and 500 freestyle events in the Eagles’ regular finale on Tuesday.

Twardowski went 2 minutes, 24.70 seconds in the 200 individual medley and 5:52.93 in the 500 freestyle.

Twardowski was also a part of Estancia’s first-place showing in the 4x100 relay (4:01.37), which included Derek Andrews, Brooks Watkins and Hayden Swift.

Preston Schow finished first in the 50 and 100 freestyle events in 24.35 and 55.82, respectively.

Matt Thome won the 100 butterfly on his 18th birthday in 1:01.76.

Estancia (6-6) competes in the Orange Coast League preliminaries at Costa Mesa High on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

BASEBALL

Woodbridge 3, Corona del Mar 1

IRVINE — Senior Clark Cashion went three for four in the Sea Kings’ Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Will Morrow and Aaron White each went two for four for CdM (11-8, 5-5 in league), which is tied for third place with Woodbridge.

The Sea Kings play host to the Warriors Friday at 3:15 p.m.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Corona del Mar def. Irvine

CORONA DEL MAR — CdM’s Brennan Anderson led a balanced attack with eight kills as the Sea Kings swept Tuesday’s Pacific Coast League match, 25-17, 25-20, 25-13.

Jack Reed had eight kills for CdM (20-4, 6-0 in league), and Evan Dean had seven. Spencer Haly had six kills and two blocks.

Nick Curci dished out 23 assists for the Sea Kings, ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Division II coaches’ poll.

Godinez def. Estancia

COSTA MESA — Eagles senior Charlie Umansky had 16 kills but Godinez outlasted Estancia in five games, 17-25, 25-21, 25-27, 25-17, 15-13, in the Orange Coast League match Tuesday night.

Anthony Pham had 27 digs for Estancia (1-13, 1-7 in league).

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Newport Harbor 99.5, Huntington Beach 70.5

NEWPORT BEACH — Newport junior Tom Fisher won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 48.21 seconds as well as the 500 free (4:51.48) in Tuesday’s Sunset League meet at Newport Harbor High.

Senior Davey Jorth was another double-event winner for the Sailors (4-1 in league). He won the 50 free in 22.67 and the 100 free in 48.76.

Newport Harbor hosts the Sunset League preliminaries Wednesday. The finals are May 4.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Newport Harbor 113, Huntington Beach 56

NEWPORT BEACH — Sophomore Carly Christian won the 50 free (25.21) and the 500 free (5:30.16) in the Sailors’ Sunset League meet Tuesday at Newport Harbor High.

Sophomore Casey Duckworth was the other multiple-event winner for Newport Harbor (2-3 in league). Duckworth won the 100 fly (1:01.44) and 100 breast (1:13.75) for Newport, which won all three relays.

The Sunset League girls’ preliminaries are Tuesday, with the finals May 4.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Newport Harbor 10, Capistrano Valley 2

MISSION VIEJO — Riley Robinson finished with five goals and two assists in the Sailors’ nonleague game Tuesday.

Jake Turner contributed three goals and two assists and Zach Vayda made six saves for Newport Harbor (7-9).
