Late run lifts UCI to victory

IRVINE — The host Anteaters produced a 10-0 run in the final 2:54 and senior Kassandra McAllister had all 19 of her points in the second half in the nonconference game Saturday at the Bren Events Center.

McAllister made four free throws in the final 39 seconds, was nine of 11 from the foul line and added nine assists.

Jasmine Bernard (16 points), Jasmyne White (14) and Methlyn Onogomuho (12) also paced the UCI offense.

Bernard had a team-high eight rebounds to help UCI improve to 3-5 with its third win in its last four games.

Santa Clara, which shot 53.4% from the field, fell to 6-2. It had won four straight.

UCI returns to action Dec. 11 at home against Sacramento State.
