Youth/Club Scene: Clinic Oilers reach second round of playoffs

The Huntington Beach Oilers gave up only a second-quarter touchdown to the Woodcrest Generals but couldn't match it and fell, 7-0, in the second round of the Junior All-American Football Clinic Division playoffs.

The Oilers moved into Generals' territory several times but couldn't push through. Their best chance to score came in the third quarter after a big stop by the defense. Jake Favazza tackled a Generals' ball-carrier in the backfield on a fourth-and-four play, giving the Oilers a first down at the Generals' 40-yard line.

On third-and-five, Zack Pratte took a hand-off on a reverse and ran 15 yards to the 20. Three run plays later, the Oilers faced fourth-and-two from the 12, but came up short and turned the ball over.

The Oilers had one last chance in the fourth quarter after a fumble recovery by Jonah Del Rosario with 3:35 left the in game. But the Oilers immediately fumbled the ball back and missed their chance.

Huntington finished the season with a record of 5-4.
