High School Roundup: CdM boys' lacrosse bounces back after loss


Corona del Mar 15, Amador Valley 4

PLEASANTON — Senior attacker Jack Ortlieb scored four goals and assisted on another Tuesday, helping the Sea Kings bounce back after seeing their 36-game winning streak end on Monday.

CdM (13-1), now ranked No. 7 in the state by laxpower.com, lost at No. 6 Danville San Ramon Valley, 10-9.

Casey Mix finished with five assists and one goal against Amador Valley. Sherwin Gersten added three goals and an assist.

Goalie Hoyt Crance made seven saves and Brian Leguay had five ground balls.

Brett Nelson scored three goals against San Ramon Valley and Mix added two goals.

The Sea Kings return from the San Francisco Bay Area and play at St. Margaret's (11-4) on Saturday at 1 p.m.



Estancia 14, Costa Mesa 2

COSTA MESA — Senior Ben Beck struck out six in six shutout innings as the Eagles defended the Battle for the Bell with an Orange Coast League win on Tuesday.

Beck improved to 5-1. He also went three for five with four runs batted in and two triples.

Tyler Rios went three for three with three runs batted and two doubles.

Jackson Letterman, Eric Molina and Jason Rodriguez each had two hits for Estancia, which collected 17 hits.

The Eagles (11-7, 4-4 in league) can sweep the three-game series against Costa Mesa (4-13, 1-7) at TeWinkle Park Wednesday at 7 p.m.


Beckman 7, Corona del Mar 5

CORONA DEL MAR — Baron Schwarz went three for four with three runs batted in to go with a solo home run and a double for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Max Stone had two RBIs and Brendan Hueston was two for three for CdM (6-12, 2-6 in league).



Newport Harbor 195, Edison 199

NEWPORT BEACH — Brad Tapfer was medalist for the Sailors with a two-under par 34 in the Sunset League match Tuesday at Big Canyon Country Club.

Landon Knight (38), Max Meisenheimer (39), Danny Willett (41) and Mason Moody (43) also scored for Newport Harbor.

The Sailors (11-3, 5-2 in league) play host to Fountain Valley on Thursday at Big Canyon.



Corona del Mar 17, Northwood 4

CORONA DEL MAR — Molly Rovzar had four goals, four assists and five draw controls for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Monday.

Kacie Kline scored four goals and Kylie Mulvaney added three goals for CdM (14-4, 7-1 in league).
