SAN LUIS OBISPO — Junior Ronnie Valerio finished tied for fifth and senior Michelle Park tied for seventh in the event completed Tuesday at San Luis Obispo Golf and Country Club.

The Anteaters had a 54-hole total of 922, 41 shots off the pace of victorious UC Davis and 12 behind runner-up Long Beach State.

Valerio shot 226, while Park shot 227.

Freshman Luciane Lee tied for 17th at 234, while Sara Banke tied for 22nd at 235 and sophomore Brenna Carlson tied for 28th at 242.

BASEBALL

UC Irvine 1, Pacific 0

STOCKTON — Junior Andrew Morales pitched 81/3 shutout innings to improve to 9-0 and extend his scoreless-innings streak to 222/3 to help the visiting Anteaters win the rubber game of the Big West Conference series Sunday.

Morales struck out eight, walked one and allowed seven hits, before giving way to Race Parmenter, who posted his seventh save.

Junior center fielder Dominique Taylor singled in the game’s only run with two outs in the third inning for UCI (25-11, 7-5 in conference). The ‘Eaters are tied for third place with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Long Beach State in the conference standings. UCI is three games behind first-place Cal State Fullerton and one game behind second-place Cal State Northridge.

Taylor was two for four to account for half of the Anteaters’ hits.

UOP fell to 10-24, 3-9.

Irvine Valley 13,

Orange Coast 4

COSTA MESA — Austin Saenz went four for four with a run batted in for the host Pirates, who lost their fifth straight game, in Orange Empire Conference action Tuesday.

Danny Jimenez went one for three with two RBIs and one run scored for OCC (21-14, 9-11 in conference).

Irvine Valley is 11-23, 6-14.

MEN’S TENNIS

UC Irvine 4, UC Davis 2

IRVINE — Junior captain Ryan Cheung won in singles and doubles to help the host Anteaters earn a share of the Big West Conference regular-season title on Sunday.

The win was the fifth straight in conference play for UCI (9-16, 5-1 in conference), which shares the crown with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Based on its head-to-head win against Cal Poly, UCI earns the No. 1 seed in the Big West tournament, in which the ‘Eaters open Friday against the Hawaii-UCSB winner at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

UC Irvine 7, Hawaii 0

IRVINE — UC Irvine freshman Sara Gong won 12 of 13 games at No. 3 singles to lead the host Anteaters in the Big West Conference regular-season finale on Sunday.

UCI (20-3, 9-0 in conference) won its 17th straight and finished the season 14-0 at home. Coach Mike Edles’ Anteaters are the No. 1 seed in the Big West Conference Tournament, in which they begin Friday.

COSTA MESA — Nicole Watkins had the lone hit for the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Wednesday.

OCC finishes 3-29, 1-20 in conference.
