High winds expected to lessen by Saturday, forecasters say

Strong Santa Ana winds blowing 20 to 40 mph downed trees and branches in many areas of Orange County on Friday morning, and a National Weather Service high-wind warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. Saturday.

However, the northwest winds are expected to gradually diminish and become less widespread later Friday and into Saturday, the weather service said.
