Pedestrian killed by SUV in Fountain Valley
A pedestrian was hit and killed by an SUV that ran a red light, Fountain Valley police said.
Just after 9 a.m. Sunday, a Ford Expedition traveling east on Warner Avenue entered the intersection at Los Jardines West against a red light, police said.
The driver swerved to avoid colliding with another vehicle and lost control of the Expedition, which went onto the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian standing on the southeast corner, police said.
The pedestrian, Tam Minh Vo, 57, of Salt Lake City, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Orange County coroner’s office.
Police said they don’t believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. An investigation is continuing.
