Eleanor Bowers<br/>September 9, 1925 - March 15, 2015

Eleanor (Ellie) Martin Niethamer Bowers passed away on March 15, 2015.

She was born Eleanor Mitchell Warren on September 9, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Shaker Heights School, Duke University and was a cum laude graduate of Flora Stone Mather College of Case Western Reserve University.

She is survived by children Warren Douglas Martin (Barbara) of Eugene, Oregon, Edith (Dedie) Wright (David) of Georgetown, Texas and Timothy Martin (Kathleen) of Thousand Oaks, California. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was the widow of patent attorney Earl L. Martin, partner in the firm Lyon & Lyon, Alan G. Niethamer, District Manager for Metal Goods, and Frank W. Bowers II, who was an engineer for General Electric.

Since 1955 she had been a resident of La Canada-Flintridge and was active in many organizations. She held all offices in the La Canada alumnae of Pi Beta Phi including convention delegate; the Flintridge-La Canada Guild of Huntington Memorial Hospital where she was president and twice horse show chairman, Thursday Club, a charter member of the A.M. Kiwanis Club where she received the distinguished service award and Kiwanian of the year award, and the La Canada Tournament of Roses Association. She was a member of the La Canada Presbyterian Church since 1956.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to an organization of your choice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
