Born to Mildred Shearin Terry and Wallace C. Terry I at West Point Academy. Came to Glendale, California in 1949 with her mother, older sister (Cathy) and younger brother (Wally II).
She married William “Bill” Evans on April 18, 1960. Three children followed: Daniel, Teresa, and Michael.
She began her professional career by working at Studio Girl in Glendale as an accounting agent. She went on to bookkeeping for many local Glendale businesses. She also was a teacher’s aide at Holy Family School. She began her career with the City of Glendale in 1980 as a clerk typist in the data services division. She was transferred to the treasurer’s office and in 1984, was appointed to complete the term of her retiring predecessor. She won election to the post in 1985, 1989 and 1993.
After retiring from the City of Glendale in 1999, she continued her activities by helping out at Holy Family Catholic Church. She was known for her love of music, crossword puzzles, reading, nature, and animals. She was frequently seen volunteering at local animal shelters. She was devoted to her family, her church community, and civic concerns.
She is survived by her husband and children, four grandchildren, and her sister and brother. She is remembered as being a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews as well as friend and adopted mother to others.
Her funeral services will be at Holy Family Catholic Church, 220 E. Elk Av., Glendale, CA on Friday, January 16, 2015: 9:30am Rosary; 10:00am Mass. Committal will be at San Fernando Mission Cemetery at 1:00p on the same day.
