Marilyn Brown Olson<br/> March 27, 1931 - December 20, 2014

Marilyn Brown Olson, beloved Wife, Mother, Daughter, “Grammie,” “GG,” Sister-in-Law, and Friend, passed away suddenly (heart failure) at her home on December 20, 2014, just one day after returning home from a wonderful 15-day Hawaiian Cruise, with her husband, Earle.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Earle, and two sons, Steve & Jeff, along with her daughters-in-law, Casey (Grier) & Julie (Isenman). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristin (John Baber), Brittney (Ryan Philyaw–fiancé), Brian, Sarah & Matt, 4 great grand-daughters, and sister-in-law, Nancy (Paul Kemp).

Marilyn was the only child of Claude & Lucile Brown, born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Glendale, California. She attended Glendale public schools, and graduated from USC (Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority) where she met future husband, Earle. Marilyn taught elementary school for over 25 years in the Glendale Unified School District (daughter-in-law Julie was her “favorite” kindergarten student). Marilyn was also an active community volunteer with Las Candelas, PEO, Oakmont League, USC Auxiliary, Hillsides Residential Treatment Centers, among many others.

As a young girl, Marilyn enjoyed summers visiting her mother’s family farm in Ohio. Affectionately called “Brownie” by many of her USC Trojan friends, Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family and friends (including the Baguettes), playing bridge, reading, golf & tennis.

Services will be private for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Hillsides Residential Treatment Centers (Pasadena) or to the charity of one’s choosing.
