Twila Marshall passed away on March 11, 2015, in Burbank, California.

She was born on September 20, 1924, in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota, to Mentor and Lillian Rognlie. She grew up in Minnewaukan, North Dakota, where she graduated from high school and then attended State Teacher’s College in Valley City, North Dakota. It was there she met Thomas Marshall, a young man from California, who was there for training in the Navy’s V-12 Program during WWII. They married on October 31, 1945, and settled in Northern California when Tom was discharged from the Navy. In 1948 they moved to Burbank when Tom was hired as a U.S. History teacher at John Burroughs High School.

Twila was an accomplished and popular piano teacher who gave private lessons in Burbank for 45 years.

Twila was preceded in death by her husband Tom. She is survived by her sister Eulale Keesler and her husband Ray; her son David Marshall; her daughter Kathleen Spurr and her husband John; two grandchildren, Sean Spurr and Sarah Robertson (and her husband David); and two great grandchildren, Isla and Cameron Robertson. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Twila’s life will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, at her home in Burbank.
