Anne Doherty was born and raised here in La Canada Flintridge. Her parents were Dr and Mrs John H Dougherty. She attended Mayfield through high school and then went to UC Berkeley on an athletic scholarship. Shortly thereafter she returned home to assist with her father’s ailing health. In June 1957 she married Emmett E. Doherty, Jr at her parish, St Bede The Vererable. They were both active members in Church. Anne , like her mother ( Anne Kelly Dougherty) before her, was a member of the La Canada -Flintridge Guild of Children’s Hospital and for many years she and Emmett hosted the Guild’s annual benefit at their home on Berkshire Avenue.

In 1978 Anne and Emmett Doherty moved to Solana Beach where they lived the remainder of their lives and raised their three younger children. Emmett died in June 2001. Anne is survived by her five children, Kevin, Karen Anne, John, Anne Elise, and Michael as well as 7 grandchildren.
