September 18, 1925- April17, 2012
Ken Wilson passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in Carson City, Nevada.
Ken was born in Hollywood California. He graduated from Occidental College in 1952. Ken majored in music and wanted to become a teacher. Ken, did his student teaching at Hoover High School in Glendale, CA, in 1952. Ken continued at Hoover High School his entire career (33 years) teaching music and history until his retirement in 1985. He was remembered for the many Spring Musicals he dearly enjoyed producing and the talented students he worked with.
Simultaneous to his work at Hoover High School Ken also served as Minster of Music at several churches over a span of 42 years. His last church assignment was at Grandview Presbyterian in Glendale where he was Choir Director for over 20 years.
After his retirement Ken moved to Carson City Nevada. Continuing with his musical talent he played piano bar at Heiss’ Steak House and wrote arrangements and played keyboard with the Tahoe Dance Band for 11 years. Music was Ken’s passion.
He leaves his beloved wife of 59 years, Louisa, his daughter Luanne Emery and son Craig and 5 wonderful grandchildren. Ken was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He will be greatly missed.
