John Arthur Palmer, Jr. June 18, 1927-Oct. 23, 2012

¿¿John, born June 18, 1927 in Flushing, NY, went to his final resting place on October 23, 2012 in Yuma, AZ.
Married to Phyllis Quimby in 1955, they relocated to Glendale, CA in 1962 where they raised their three daughters. His career included teaching science at Clark Jr. High School and Toll Jr. High School with the Glendale Unified School District. Being an educator was a life-long passion of John’s, always striving to find the best or most creative way to engage his students and embraced the motto “Education is taking what you learn today and putting it to use tomorrow.”
He had a wide variety of interests, but mostly enjoyed golfing, bowling, square dancing, RV camping and photography.
Following his retirement, he continued consulting and teaching in the elementary grades and reading/play acting for the pre-schoolers at his church where he dedicated his time, talent and treasure for many years.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis, his daughters Nancy, Wendy and Amy, three grandchildren, Kristen, Emily and Jack, as well as a sister, Arline and a foreign exchange student “daughter,” Mary Giannetoni of Switzerland.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church, 2902 Montrose Ave, La Crescenta, on November 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm, where he was an active member.
