Donald Mumper 1927-2012

Recent resident of Redlands, and former long-term resident of La Canada Flintridge, Donald Mumper died in his sleep on Saturday, November 24, at his residence in Yucaipa.

Donald was born in 1927, in Akron, Ohio. He grew up in Akron, Ohio, joined the Merchant Marines at age 17, and then upon turning 18, joined the US Navy, serving during WW2 aboard the USS Columbus, where he was part of the shakedown cruise. During his tour of duty, Donald toured Japan, China, and Hawaii, as he proudly served his country. He was honorably discharged in California, where he met his wife of 50 years, Irene Mumper. They married in 1952, and they settled in West Los Angeles where they raised three children. The move from West L.A. to La Canada kept him in closer proximity to his workplace at Ralph M. Parsons in Pasadena. He retired from Ralph M.Parsons Corp. as Procurement manager.

Don was predeceased by his wife Irene ten years ago, and is now survived by his three children; sons, James and Timothy and daughter Lauri and their spouses. He also leaves behind his six grandchildren, Matthew, Jeffrey, Amanda, Devin, Joseph and Christopher, two step-grandchildren, Richard and Melissa, and three great-grandchildren, Victoria, Lillian and Alexandra. He is also survived by his older brother William Mumper.
