Thousands of people turned out for the inaugural Los Angeles Jingle Bell Run/Walk, a fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation that started at the Alex Theatre in Glendale.

More than 2,000 people were expected to take part in the event on Sunday, which surpassed its $100,000 fundraising goal by generating $108,725 in support of the foundation’s mission to prevent, control and cure arthritis and related diseases.

Dr. Jim Sears, the Emmy nominated co-host of the talk show “The Doctors,” emceed the event as runners and walkers donned their holiday gear and took to the streets of downtown Glendale.

Nationwide, the event raised nearly $7.5 million, according to the organization’s website.
