Verda Fern Baker July 15, 1931 - December 21, 2012

Verda Fern Baker, 81, passed away on December 21, 2012 at her home in Camarillo surrounded by her family after losing her battle with cancer. She was born in Danbury,NE to William andThelma Hindman on July 15, 1931.

She lived in many interesting places including Colorado, England, Washington, Arizona and finally settling in San Bernardino, CA. From there she moved to Running Springs,CA, then moved to Burbank and lived there for over 40 years before moving to Camarillo in 2011 to be near her daughter.

Although her education and chosen profession was bookkeeping/accounting, while living in Running Springs, she obtained her real estate license and sold real estate for several years. She worked for many different types of businesses through the years including aerospace, construction and her last job was for St Anne’s in Los Angeles from which she retired in 2001.

After retiring, she volunteered at Joslyn Center in Burbank in their travel department. She was a tour guide for many of the day trips the center organized. She also traveled to many parts of the world including China, Europe, the Caribbean, and much of the United States. She would return to her hometown of Danbury, NE every May for her high school reunion, where some of her family still lives.

She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Glendale B ‘n’ Bs. You could find her Do-Si-Doing several times a week and even traveled to Las Vegas several times to square dance.

In between her travel and square dancing, you could catch her at the soccer or baseball fields, basketball court and even occasionally at the BMX track watching her grandchildren. She always enjoyed being with her children & grandchildren and taking part in their lives. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and fun loving person. She will be missed
greatly and she will always be in our hearts.

She is survived by her children, Yvonne Earle (Tim Earle) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Diann Canterbury (Doug Canterbury) of Camarillo, CA, Pamela Lani of Orange, CA, and Bill McNaughton of San Marcos, CA. She is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Hindman of DeSoto,TX, a sister, Vera Cummings of McCook, NE, six grandchildren (Eric, Nicole, Brandon,
Ryan, Jenny and Kristi), two great-grandchildren (Alessia and Angel) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Buena Vista Hospice for their loving care and compassion during this difficult time.

A celebration of life will be held on January 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Conejo Mountain Memorial, 2052 Howard Rd, Camarillo, CA.
