James Dickson Glomb, Sr passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 1, 2013, in his La Canada, California home at the age of 88. Born in Spokane, Washington, on July 1, 1924, he is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lois, his children, Jim Jr. (Eileen), Kristine (Rick), and Lisa, his grandchildren, Kevin, Megan, Karuna, Randy, and Nathan, and great grandchildren, Dylan, Lincoln, and Avelyn. Jim proudly served as a pilot in the US Navy, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He graduated from Stanford University and had a distinguished career as an aerospace engineer, notably at Jet Propulsion Laboratory. There he was a key player in our nation’s successful endeavor to explore space and put a man on the moon. Jim loved his family
fiercely. He loved to work with all things mechanical, to fish, water ski and camp. He loved his dogs, card games, bad jokes, and goofy songs, but flying for the Navy was his passion. His family and friends loved him very much, will miss him dearly, and will never forget him.
