Geraldene “Gerry” Ripley, a longtime resident of Glendale, passed away on February 12, 2013, on
her 88tth birthday. Born in Pasadena to Paul Burr and Cecelia Schmider, Geraldene graduated from Hollywood High in 1942. She met her husband in 1944 at Camp Callan, near La Jolla. The couple made their home in the Adams Hill area of Glendale in 1947. Geraldene was active in the community, school district and at John Muir Elementary School, where she was the Librarian until 1980 when she started with Glendale Library until her retirement in 1992. After 10 years in Carlsbad, she returned to Glendale in 2011. Geraldene joins her husband, Colonel Theodore Ripley who passed in 1987. Geraldene leaves two daughters, Pamela Dombroski and Karen O’Kelly. and four sons, James, Richard, David and Michael, and fourteen grandchildren. A
private memorial will be held.
