Irene Retzer December 30, 1926 - February 26, 2013

Irene Retzer, 86 of Visalia, California passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Visalia, California.

Irene was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on December 30, 1926 to Floyd and Jennie Derr. She graduated with the Class of 1945 from New Castle High School. On June 15, 1946 Irene married James Henry Retzer in New Castle. From 1946 to 1955 Irene and James made their home in New Castle. They moved to Glendale, California in 1955. Irene worked for Pacific Bell as an Administrative Manager from 1956 to 1985. She then worked for Onsite/Offsite Engineering as a Personnel Supervisor until moving to Visalia in 1991. In 1993 James preceded her in death. She was an active member of the Glendale Emblem Club. Irene was an avid Bridge player and member of many clubs in the area. She enjoyed driving many of the ladies to the club meetings. While in Glendale she enjoyed camping and riding motorcycles with the
Glendale Elks Lodge of which James was a member. Irene enjoyed traveling, going to Las Vegas, playing cards and crossword puzzles.

Irene is survived by her son, Jim Retzer and wife, Carolyn of Kettle Falls, WA; three grandsons, Ronald, Michael and Matthew and two great granddaughters, Valerie and Melanie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Cynthia, two sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 10-12:30 pm with graveside services to follow at 1 pm at the Visalia District Cemetery.
