Lucius deVita of La Canada Flintridge passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at his home. He was 84 years old.

Born in Naples, Italy in 1928 to Francesca and Salvatore deVita, the family moved to New York City when Lou was young. He joined the Merchant Marine at 15 years of age then enlisted in the US Army where he served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. With an Honorable Discharge from the service, Lou moved to Southern California where he met and later married Marjorie Primeau. With family, he founded Oh Boy Corporation which manufactured frozen foods. He retired in 1994.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John who died during the Normandy invasion, his wife Marge, his son Jon, and his daughter Gina.

He is survived by his son and wife Eric and Laurie deVita and their children, Garrett, Melanie
and Angel; his son and wife Louie and Tami deVita and their children, Jon, Bryn and Bret; and his son and wife Jeffrey and Melissa deVita and their children, Nico and Gabriella; and his adopted son and wife, Marc and Kerry Mitchell. He is also survived by his sister Etta Vitale and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at St. Bede’s Catholic Church. Lou was laid to rest at San Fernando Mission Cemetery with his wife, Marge, son Jon and daughter Gina.

Donations can be made in Lou’s memory to Saint Francis High School, and Saint Bede the Venerable Church, in La Canada.
