Wayne Ernest Allen March 23, 1933 - April 8, 2013

Wayne Ernest Allen was born March 23, 1933 in Glendale, CA and died on April 8, 2013 at home in Concord, CA. Wayne grew up in Pacoima, running track and trying out jobs such as bee keeper’s assistant. He attended Glendale Community College and eventually became a draftsman. During the Korean War, Wayne was stationed in England as part of the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron flying weather data gathering missions and making lifelong friends.

In 1960 Wayne married Aagot and together they had four children raising them in Santa Barbara and the San Fernando Valley. In 1979 Wayne moved to Poulsbo WA where he worked for Boeing and eventually cared for his mother in her final years. In 2003 Wayne moved back to California to settle in Concord to live close to his granddaughters. In his final decade he has enjoyed spending time with his children and their families, playing his fiddle, talking with friends, character drawing and painting and driving around the Concord area on his infamous visits to his favorite eateries and Trader Joes chatting up the workers.

Wayne will be missed by his sons, John, Tor and Gregg, daughter Ann, five granddaughters and their families and his friends all over.

A burial service will be held at 9am April 23 at the Wee Kirk o’ the Heather Chapel in Forest Lawn (Glendale, CA), memory sharing to follow.

A memorial will be held April 28 1pm-4pm at the Dalis Gardens Clubhouse, Concord, CA. Attendees are asked to share stories and musicians please bring your instruments.
