Beth Coplin an 89 year resident of the La Cañada/Glendale area, passed away Friday April 26th in the presence of family from cancer. She was born in Chanute, Kansas on January 24, 1919 to Roy and Helen Hunt, She was their third of five children. In 1924 her family moved to Glendale where she attended RD White Elementary School and graduated from Glendale High School. Beth was involved in Jobs Daughters and served as Honor Queen of Bethel 19. She remained active in Jobs Daughters and served on the Guardian Council, was Bethel Guardian for 10 years, and served as State Grand Council Officer. In addition she served on the board of Trustees of the Church of the Lighted Window in La Cañada.

Beth married Bill Coplin at the Wee Kirk of the Heather, Glendale on April 6, 1939. They were married 62 years. Beth is survived by her three daughters Judy (Gene) Mitz of Durango, Colorado, Liz (Jim) Bender of La Cañada and Sue (Tom) Kanarian of Manhattan Beach, 6 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Beth was very active in the La Cañada Fine Arts Club, Circle 3 Church Group, Trinity League, Pandoras, UCLA Delta Gamma Mothers’ Club, Ladies Kiwanis, 22 years Thursday Club, and she worked for Baxter Labs.

Services will be held on May 10th at the Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills at 12:30pm.

Donations may be made in her name to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Los Angeles, Descanso Gardens – La Cañada, or American Cancer Society.
