Donald A. Goodwin April 18, 1923 - June 21, 2013

Donald Goodwin a La Canada native, passed away in June at the age of 90. The son of early La Canada residents Willard and Olive Goodwin, Donald went to school in La Canada and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 1 (now 501).

His education at UC Berkeley was interrupted by WWII during which he served in the Army’s Armored Infantry in Europe. After the war he returned to Berkeley to complete his education.

Influenced by his friends and family and thanks to the GI Bill, he went to Johns Hopkins Medical School and became a urologist and surgeon. After receiving his MD he returned to Los Angeles in1961 to practice medicine at the Elmer Belt Urological Group.

Donald was an outdoorsman, and mountain climber; climbing the Matterhorn in 1947. He enjoyed camping in the Sierra and the California deserts. As a great reader and book lover his many interests included history, archeology and geology. He had lifelong friendships from grade school, college and medical school which he kept in touch with till the end.

Donald married twice and is survived by both his ex-wives and son Daniel Goodwin.
