Doris Jean Heywood was born on March 27, 1926. She passed away on Aug. 9, 2013. She was born in St. Louis, MO as Doris Jean Kellerman. She moved to Glendale, CA and graduated Glendale High School in 1943. Jean received her B.A. & M.A. from Cal. St. at Los Angeles. Jean taught Phys. Ed. at Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale, CA until retirement. While married to Lumir Ruzicka, Lt. Commander, USN, Jean lived in numerous cities throughout the U.S. She discovered Coronado at this time. She volunteered as a Gray Lady at various naval hospitals. Jean is survived by her daughter, Judy Ann Machado, of Coronado, CA, granddaughter, Jessica Machado, of Modesto, CA and grandson, Tim Machado, of Mission Beach , CA.
