Community: Still sailing on “Love Boat” success

Share

Glendale residents Jeraldine Saunders and Sheila Farrell Murray have just published a book on Saunders’ life as a cruise director and they’ll be signing copies at 7 p.m. next Wednesday at Glendale Central Library, 222 E. Harvard St.

“The Love Boat Lady,” written by Murray, is a look back at Saunders’ experiences as the cruise industry’s first female cruise director. Saunders first wrote about her life aboard luxury cruise ships during the 1960s and ‘70s in the book, “The Love Boats.” The book inspired the TV series “The Love Boat” that ran from 1977 to 1986.

Saunders will talk about her life as a cruise director, runway model for Oleg Cassini and Mr. Blackwell, nationally syndicated horoscope columnist and an author of best-selling books on hypoglycemia.
