Rolland A. Baker 1929 - 2013

“Rolly” passed away at home on August 4th, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born and raised in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles to Harrison and Pearl Baker. After serving in the U.S. Navy for four years as a photographer’s mate, Rolly graduated from Cal State L.A. and began a 32 year career as an industrial arts teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Many past students in the Sun Valley area fondly recall their metal shop class with Mr. Baker.

His passions were travelling around the United States in the family motor home, fishing, building and repairing just about anything, and finding new friends. He could talk to anyone and always seemed to be connecting with a new acquaintance during his travels.

He is now re-united with Lorraine, his wife of 35 years, who passed far too young, in 1992. He was predeceased by his sister Selma and is survived by two sons - Glenn (Diane) and Eric (Colleen) and four grandsons. In lieu of a funeral, Rolly’s ashes will be spread at sea where he enjoyed spending so much of his time.
