Richard E. Eldred January 1935 - October 2013

Longtime Glendale attorney Richard E. Eldred, 78, slipped away Oct. 18 surrounded by the people he loved most.

Dad was born in 1935 in Jerome, Idaho to Melvin and Elsie Eldred. After 2 years in the Army he left for Idaho State Univ. followed by USC Law School. He worked for Disney’s legal department and the Glendale District Atty’s office before entering private practice in the 1970s. Dad was a member of the JayCees, the Chamber of Commerce, the Glendale Bar Assoc., the Verdugo Club, the Lions Club and especially his beloved Kiwanis.

Dad loved practicing law and was also very fond of his family, naps, Chardonnay, his hair, fast cars, Sundays at Los Gringos, Far Niente, skiing in Sun Valley, and especially best friend Barbara Edwards. Dad could be difficult but he was also generous and was clear at the end that he was grateful to everyone for making him comfortable. He is survived by his son John (Christine), daughter Laura Heany (Brian), son Richard and daughter Alyse, sister Shirley of Hailey, Idaho and 5 grandchildren.

A celebration of Dad’s life will be held at noon November 2, 2013 at the Old North Church, Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
