Community: Youth orchestra opens 25th season

The Glendale Youth Orchestra, conducted by Brad Keimach, opens its 25th season with a concert of selections by Mozart, Beethoven and Rachmaninoff at 7 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Alex Theatre.

Hillary Lin Santoso, a senior at San Marino High School, will perform the first movement of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Hillary has performed on violin with the youth orchestra for four seasons. She won the International Young Artists Piano Competition in Washington, D.C. and received first place and Judges’ Award in the American Protégé International Concerto Competition. Hillary has also been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall twice.

Tickets are $12.50 or $10 for seniors, children and students at the box office at the Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale. For more information, call (818) 243-ALEX.
