June Flanagan Taylor passed away on Tuesday, November 5th after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. June was a warm, loving, happy and giving person to her family and friends. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

June was born July 14, 1939 to Hubert and Gladys Flanagan, and grew up in Gainesville, Georgia where she graduated from Gainesville High in 1957. June attended the University of Georgia and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. June married her high school sweetheart, Richard W. Taylor, and they remained married for 53 wonderful years.

In 1971, June and Dick moved from Georgia to La Cañada Flintridge, where they made a home for their three children, who all grew up there and graduated from LCHS. The family lived in La Cañada for nearly 20 years. June was socially active in many community organizations, but was particularly fond of her membership in the Scholarship League, the Assistance League, and St. George’s Episcopal Church. June was also fond of the beach house she owned at El Morro along Crystal Cove Bay, which she would share with an endless parade of summer-time visitors who came to spend warm days on the beach. She loved the sun, warm sandy beaches and sounds of the ocean, and wanted to share that experience with anyone that wished to visit.

In 1992, June and Dick retired to Beaufort, South Carolina, where they enjoyed their retirement close to Hilton Head and the beautiful marshes of the Low Country. In 2000, they moved to Marvin, North Carolina to be closer to their family. June passed in the comfort of home with her loving family by her side.

June is survived by her husband Richard W. Taylor, daughters Victoria Taylor Lawton, Valerie Taylor Smith, son Richard R. Taylor, grandchildren Amanda Lawton, Hayden Smith, Serena Smith, and her sister Patsy F. Lothridge.

Services are to be held on Saturday, November 16th, at 11 AM, at St Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Marvin, North Carolina.
