Frances Urdell Lewis Lilly Scott, age 102, passed away peacefully Jan. 12, 2014, at her home in Glendale, CA, with family at her side. Born May 11, 1911, in Los Angeles, Frances was an elegant, loving and gracious lady who devoted herself to family, friends, neighbors and all who knew her through work and civic organizations.

She graduated from UC Berkeley, earning a BA, and meeting her future husband of 64 years, Wilbur Bruce Lilly. The two lived in Los Angeles where Wilbur, a CPA, established his accountancy firm. Frances gave birth to Charles Bruce in 1936, and to Sharon Ann in 1945.

She was twice PTA president; Women’s Republican Club president and state representative; P.E.O. president; and member of various bridge clubs and other organizations. She worked for Lockheed during World War II. Later she became office manager for the Lilly firm. She was an actress in her 90’s in the Burbank United Methodist Players repertory group, regularly stealing the show.

After losing her first husband, she married Beecher Earl Scott in 2003. They enjoyed over 10 rich years together, filled with travel, bridge, friends and family. She celebrated her 100th birthday with Beecher and family in Seattle and Butchart Gardens, 101St in San Diego, and 102nd in Los Angeles at her daughter’s home.

Frances is survived by her adoring family: husband Beecher Earl Scott, daughter Sharon Lilly (Joan Potter), grandson Bruce Lilly (Leslie), granddaughter Melinda Thompson (Scott), great grandchildren Elizabeth Lilly, Charles Lilly (Friday), Henry Thompson, Lyra Thompson, nieces Linda Harmon and Diane Martin; son-in-law Roy Scott (Sabrina Valentino); son-in-law Wayne Scott (Leilani); and many other dear family members and dear friends. Frances was preceded in death by her first husband Wilbur Bruce Lilly, son Charles Bruce Lilly, daughter-in-law Marian Lilly, and brother Vance Lewis. The celebration of the wonderful life of Frances Urdell Lewis Lilly Scott will be at 3:00 on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Burbank United Methodist Church, 700 N. Glenoaks Blvd. Burbank 91502.
