Margaret B. Engelke November 7, 1922 - January 18, 2014

Margaret B. Engelke, passed away suddenly on January 18, 2014, with her loving family by her side. She was 91 years old.

Margaret, or “Peggy“ as she was lovingly called, was born on November 7, 1922, in Burbank, California to George and Maybelle Kauffmann.

In 1938, she met the love of her life, Harry Engelke, at Hoover High School in Glendale, CA. They were married in El Paso, Texas on May 15, 1943, just before Harry shipped out to the South Pacific with the U.S. Army. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in May 2013, surrounded by many dear friends and loving family.

As a young bride, Peggy was employed by Hyland Labs while Harry served his country. After he returned home, they started their family in 1947 and produced three wonderful sons. Peggy enjoyed a long and full life. She was active in many organizations, including the Glendale Guidance Clinic, PTA and PEO. She was always busy with family and friends and loved watching football games, swimming, skiing, playing tennis and golf. She loved flowers and had a beautiful rose garden. Her family fondly remembers her love of Frank Sinatra’s music and of her dancing in the kitchen with Harry. Above all, Peggy deeply loved her family. She was always a source of strength, love and support.

Peggy is survived by her beloved husband, Harry Engelke; her 3 sons, Greg (Tamara), Gary (Nancy), and George (Salli); 6 grandchildren, Jeni Bromberek (John),Amy Flores (Robert), Nick, Natalie, Allie, William Engelke, Melanie Cottle (Justin); and 4 great grandchildren, Kenny and Delaney Bromberek, Katarina and Aiden Flores.

In accordance with Peggy’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
