Community: Glendale Beautiful Arbor Day blossoms

Glendale Beautiful, in cooperation with the city of Glendale Community Services and Parks Department, will celebrate the 64th annual Arbor Day on March 4 at the Casa Adobe de San Rafael Park, 1330 Dorothy Drive.

The coffee social will begin at 10 a.m. with the program starting at 10:30 a.m.

Arbor Day is observed nationwide each year to encourage tree planting and care, said Chairwoman Gladys Wymore. Glendale Beautiful offers residents the chance to honor friends and family by purchasing a tree in their name that is planted in a local park or other public location.

This year's program will also feature a presentation of the Tree City USA Award to the city of Glendale by the National Arbor Day Foundation. This is the 30th consecutive year that Glendale has been designated “Tree City USA”.

William McKinley, park services supervisor for the city, will be the guest speaker.

To order a tree in recognition or in memory of a loved one, call Wymore at (818) 246-3534.
