The La Crescenta Woman’s Club coordinated an afternoon of fashion with an emphasis on high heels for its annual fundraiser “Step into Spring” held in mid-March.

The clubhouse walls were decorated with multicolored cut-outs of a woman’s most cherished accessory.

Guests perused silent-auction items during the social hour before sitting down to a scrumptious lunch by Ruth’s Catering.

President Carol Huntwork welcomed members and guests to the main fundraiser of the year that supports community programs, such as high school scholarships, the Firehouse Youth program that provides tutoring and counseling for local teens and Saddles for Soldiers, an equestrian therapy program that helps returning military members cope with disabilities.

Stepping lively were members of the Firehouse Youth program, who served food and kept water glasses and coffee cups full.

Led by adult leader Julie Dowse, the youth members participating were Jennielyn Bazan, Quinn Kelly, Jessy Shelton, Evan Currie, Brandon Budwig, Bridget Walsh, Natalie Dassian, Matt Aguilar, Katie Davis, Temoc Ramirez and Katie Chrisney.

Former members of the Firehouse program who came out to help serve were Edward Reiffert, Zach Thomas, Corbin Southworth and Justin Camacho.

Chairwoman Vickie Guagliardo served as commentator for the fashion show with styles from Talbot’s in Pasadena. Bre Coe, a member of the club’s Junior Section, took to the stage with a spring in her step as she modeled a red-and-white-striped dress topped with a navy blazer.

Other members modeling everything from weekend capris to print dresses were Blaire Linke, Vickie Nailing, Jennifer Genens, Juanita Lewis and Amira Smith.

The array of live-auction items gave guests a reason to kick up their heels. There was a three-day, two-night stay in Laughlin, Nev., including several goodies to take along, as well as a dinner for six cooked up by local firemen and four VIP tickets to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
