Community: L’aureole celebrates luncheon, fashion show

Share

L’aureole, a philanthropic women’s club, celebrated its Perennial Rose Luncheon and Fashion Show in grand style earlier this month.

To pamper the guests, ladies were shuttled by golf cart to the entrance of the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club. Much easier on one’s feet than climbing the hill.

President Jeannine Jones gave a spirited welcome. Master of ceremonies duties were handled expertly by Harold Scoggins, chief of the Glendale Fire Department.

And since proceeds went to the Glendale Salvation Army’s Zone program, a positive experience that keeps youths busy after school, six participants told the crowd what they’ve learned from it. Introduced by Lt. Joshua Sneed, one high school girl said she started with the program in second grade. Now, she gives back as a volunteer tutor.

A lovely lunch — vegetarian stuffed red bell pepper or tomato-basil chicken — was followed by a spring fashion show with clothing provided by Holiday Hats and Gowns. The members showing the styles — and ultrafeminine hats — were Jeri Adamson, Shirley de Perini, Dianne Graebner, Laurie Guay, Georgia McAninch and Susan Skiffington.

Pianist Mel Dangcil kept those attending swaying to the standards, while models zig-zagged around the tables donned in dresses, jumpsuits and sweeping tunics over cropped pants. Yvette Mosquera kept up the lively pace as commentator.
