Glendale area events: Concert to feature musical trio

The Glendale Noon Concerts will present a musical performance from 12:10 to 12:40 on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the sanctuary at Glendale City Church, 610 E. California Ave., Glendale.

The free concert will feature the Aviara Trio, which is made up of violinist Robert Schumitzky, cellist Erin Breene and pianist Ines Irawati. The trio will perform Johannes Brahms’ “Piano Trio No. 2 in C Major” and Astor Piazzolla’s “Oblivion.”

Salvation Army to host fundraising breakfast

The Glendale Salvation Army will host its red-kettle kickoff breakfast at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Salvation Army Community Center, 320 W. Windsor Road, Glendale.

City to host holiday tree-lighting ceremony at City Hall

A holiday tree-lighting ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, in the Perkins Plaza at Glendale City Hall, 613 E. Broadway, Glendale.

Along with lighting the tree, this event will feature musical performances by the chorus from R.D. White Elementary and the band from Roosevelt Middle School as well as a visit from Santa and a holiday-themed movie. Participants can also ice skate on Glendale’s new ice rink before and after the event.

Tied in with the tree-lighting ceremony, a toy drive will be held at 6 p.m. on the same night at 131 N. Isabel St., Glendale.

There is free parking at the Civic Center’s visitors parking structure at 620 E. Wilson Ave., Glendale.

City to host breakfast with Santa

An event called “A Holly Jolly Breakfast with Santa” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Artsakh Paseo between Wilson Avenue and Broadway.

Along with the breakfast, participants can mail a letter to the North Pole and take part in arts and crafts.

Riverwalk to host bird-watching adventure

An event called “Birdwalk on the Riverwalk” will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk, 300 Paula Ave., Glendale.

Alexander De Barros from the San Fernando Valley Audubon Society will lead participants along the Riverwalk to view the types of birds near there.

Organization to host second annual gala

The Armenian American Museum will hold a gala at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Beverly Hilton, 9876 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills.

The gala is an event to support the museum, which is slated to be built in Central Park in Glendale. There are a limited number of tickets available, and the deadline to RSVP is Nov. 8.

Church to host Nativity event

A drive-through nativity event will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec.14, at the Community Christian Church of the Foothills, 10193 Tujunga Canyon Blvd., Tujunga.

While driving through the site, attendees will see various scenes from the nativity story.
