Glendale area events: Community College to present faculty/alumni dance production

Glendale Community College will present its annual faculty/alumni dance production at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec.14, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, in the college’s auditorium.

The school is located at 1500 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale.

Admission is free, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

An aerial photography exhibit is on display at the Forest Lawn Museum

An exhibit called “The Elevated Eye: Aerial Photography Past and Present” will be on display through March 8 at the Forest Lawn Museum, 1712 S. Glendale Ave., Glendale.

The exhibit features aerial photography works from the 19th century into the 21st century. Both photos and videos are featured in the exhibit.

Fiesta de Las Luminarias is coming up

Glendale Beautiful will host “Fiesta de Las Luminarias” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, and at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Casa Adobe De San Rafael, 1330 Dorothy Drive, Glendale.

On Dec. 13, there will be a cacao ceremony. On Dec. 14, there will be a performance by Ballet Folklorico Mexico Azteca as well as a piñata for children to play with, followed by a piano recital at 5 p.m.

Church to present Nativity event

A drive-through Nativity event will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Community Christian Church of the Foothills, 10193 Tujunga Canyon Blvd., Tujunga.

While driving through the site, attendees will see various scenes from the Nativity story.

Holiday tea event slated at high school

An annual holiday tea will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, in the lower quad area at Hoover High School, 651 Glenwood Road, Glendale.

English tea and sandwiches will be served. Tickets cost $10. Participants can also attend a silent auction and take part in holiday shopping.

Park to host ‘Holiday at the Old Stone Barn’

An event called “Holiday at the Old Stone Barn” will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the old stone barn in Deukmejian Wilderness Park, 3429 Markridge Road, Glendale.

The event will include a holiday craft table as well as a performance by the Towne Singers. Those who want to attend must RSVP.

College to host holiday ceramics sale

A semiannual holiday ceramics sale will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, in Glendale Community College’s Student Center.

The college is located at 1500 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale.

Proceeds from the sale will go toward the school’s ceramics department for supplies, funding guest lecturers and workshops.

Holiday Tea and Japan Culture Day event to be held

The Shoseian Teahouse will host an event called “Holiday Tea and Japan Culture Day” from noon to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, in Brand Library Park, 1601 W. Mountain St., Glendale.

This event will feature two tea ceremonies, a Koto performance and a martial-arts demonstration. The two tea ceremonies will have limited seating, and there is a donation request of $20 per person.

Concert to feature solo mandolin performance

Glendale Noon Concerts will present a musical performance from 12:10 to 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the sanctuary at Glendale City Church, 610 E. California Ave., Glendale.

The concert will feature mandolin player Evan J. Marshall performing works by Edward DiCapua, Franz Schubert, Vince Guaraldi, Leroy Anderson and Gioacchino Rossini.

A book signing will be held for author Varak Kaloustian’s new book “Psycho Star Showdown” at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Abril Bookstore, 415 E. Broadway, Glendale.

An event called “Ugly Sweater Party in the Paseo” will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, on the Artsakh Avenue Paseo between Broadway and Wilson Avenue in Glendale.

Along with an ugly sweater contest, there will be crafts and dancing.
