Courtney Meylan Kelly, the granddaughter of Lenz and Lorrain Meylan of Glendale, was presented as a Coronet Deb during the 61st Coronet Debutante Ball held in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The Coronet Debutante Ball is a social event in which a limited number of debutantes are selected from families known throughout the country for their support of cultural and philanthropic endeavors.

Seventeen senior girls, in white ball gowns and carrying muffs covered with pink carnations, made their bow to a full ballroom of family and friends.

William Witte, chief investment officer of Caruso Affiliated, was the presenter. Mary Montalbo was the Coronet Ball director.

The event marked the Debs’ six years of community service.

The evening included the presentation of the girls who each passed through a large coronet embellished with flowers and tiny white lights. They danced the Father-Daughter Waltz and then the escort’s dance, followed by dinner. The orchestra music kept several guests dancing until after midnight.

Proceeds from the ball go to National Charity League L.A. Founder Chapter. They provide facilities for a full-time preschool in conjunction with the Head Start program, a foundation for early childhood education, in addition to providing and maintaining facilities for recording for the blind and dyslexic.
