The Burbank Noon Rotary is proud to support the art departments at Burbank and John Burroughs high schools. For the benefit of those who may not be familiar with this program, an invitation is made to the art department class at each of the high schools to participate in an art design related to their respective schools.
Burbank High chose their school mascot, the bulldog, as their subject. Burroughs chose scenes around the high school campus as their subject. The submitted entries are then judged by the Rotary Club members to determine the winning art design.
The art designs that earned first place from each school will be displayed at the Burbank Main Library over the summer.
Rotarian Court Warner, after thanking the high schools art department teachers, Loi Phan from Burbank High School and Kay Anderson from Burroughs High School, introduced all the winners. They were: from Burbank High School, Eon Cheong, first place; Haibert Sarkisian, second place; and Stella (Sueho) Lee, third place. Recognized for their participation were Adriana Crane, Jessice Kim, Diane Ko, Rachel Moskowitz and Carlos Quintanilla.
From John Burroughs High School, Tristan Quiambao, first place; Santi Biondolillo, second place; and Janet Lee, third place. Recognized for their participation were Leone Ermer, Elijah Espada, Jasmine Flores, Matthew Geronimo and Humberto Zamora.
They all received certificates and the first-, second- and third-place winners also received checks for $500, $200 and $100 respectively to Swains Art Supplies.
The Burbank Noon Rotary Club meets at noon every Tuesday at the DeBell Club House. For more information, contact Mike Thomas at (818) 563-4311 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.

KIWANIS ONE DAY PLANNED
Kiwanis International’s One Day Project was April 2. This is an annual event where all Kiwanians choose a project to help their community. The Burbank Noon Kiwanis with Burbank High Key Club, Bellarmine Jefferson Key Club, Providence High Key Club and Jordan Builders Club descended upon Thomas Jefferson Elementary with rakes, hoes, gloved hands and shovels to clear the gardens behind the classrooms of weeds.
The beds were cleared back to reveal the lovely vista of the gardens used by students to learn about growing vegetables. The lunch area was in need of new plantings to complement the area. A surprise lunch was provided by Jared Cappocchi and his hot dog wagon at his expense in order to support the Kiwanis efforts. Kiwanis One Day offered a great opportunity for all to give back to the community and school.
Burbank Noon Kiwanis meets at noon on Wednesdays at the YMCA, 321 E. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank. For more information, contact Cynthia Faust at (818) 242-2261 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
