Literary Guild hosts annual Membership Tea

Members of the Cabrini Literary Guild hosted the group’s annual Membership Tea, “Tea Thyme,” on Sept. 8 at the home of Glendale resident Jan Kubani.

President Mary Andrade greeted guests and Sr. Regina Palmera, a Missionary Sister of the Sacred Heart, offered a blessing before the meeting began.

Maureen Walsh spoke on the history of Mother Cabrini and the guild. Others explained the several groups within the organization such as Book Club, Bridge, Philosophy and Mannequins and Better Living-Busy Fingers.

Member Marie Urrutia provided tea and sandwiches for the guests to enjoy. The guild’s board members served homemade cookies.

The Cabrini Literary Guild is a philanthropic organization made up of 105 members who support local charities. The guild also oversees a writing contest each April that is open to all Catholic high schools in the Los Angeles Archdiocese including Glendale and Burbank.

The Cabrini Literary Guild hosts its first luncheon of the year at 11 a.m. at the Oakmont Country Club, 3100 Country Club Drive, Glendale. Call Ann Herrmann at (818) 790-3485.
