Glendale police are seeking witnesses to a reported assault that occurred on Saturday when a 16-year-old girl was allegedly groped by an unknown man.

The girl was walking home at around 9 p.m. on Opechee Way, near Verdugo Road, when a man appeared from behind a bush to block her path, according to Sgt. Dan Suttles, a Glendale Police Department spokesman.

The man then began to sexually touch the girl, Suttles said.

“She fought him off and was able to get away from him,” he added.

According to a statement from the police, the man is described as 6 feet tall, with a medium build. He had dark brown eyes and bushy eyebrows.

At the time of the assault, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark blue jeans.
