The 43rd annual Montrose Christmas Parade traveled down Honolulu Avenue this past Saturday, with crowds lining the street to enjoy the holiday event.

The parade included school bands, Scout troops, business representatives and dignitaries.

The parade was started in the early 1950s when MGM musical star Dennis Morgan created an afternoon holiday parade. However, when he moved away, the parade came to an end, according to the Montrose Christmas Parade Assn.’s website.

Then, the Montrose Chamber of Commerce and the Montrose Shopping Park Assn. revived the parade in 1976, with significant help from local merchant Frank Roberts.
